How to Actually Get Hired
Who reads applications, which channel gets a reply, and what they screen for.
Don't make these mistakes
Generic interest in "DeFi" or "crypto." PopDEX is a specialist product competing directly with Hyperliquid, dYdX, and GMX. The team will filter for people who understand what makes perp DEX mechanics different from spot DEXs, and what makes this design specifically differentiated from its direct competitors. If your outreach could apply to any DeFi protocol, it will not be read. On the anonymity: Do not try to identify or unmask the founding team. Engage with the product and the Foresight Ventures investment signal. The technical work is the credential. The anonymity is a feature, not a limitation.
What gets their attention
Foresight Ventures is the lead and the primary signal. They are among the five most active crypto investors globally, with a portfolio that includes Story, TON, Aptos, Morph, 0G Labs, Sentient AI, and The Block. Their thesis is explicit: they are backing infrastructure for on-chain derivatives and they have the East-West bridge to match PopDEX's need for both deep Asian market maker relationships and Western institutional credibility. When Foresight leads a $30M seed in a perp DEX, they are making a category call, not a single-project bet. Their portfolio companies at this stage are typically pushed toward liquidity partnerships, community growth, and technical velocity simultaneously. The press release is unusually specific about capital allocation: liquidity provisioning first, then product development and security audits, then team expansion and global community building. That sequencing tells you the hiring profile. The engineering team needs to be in place before the product goes public. They are hiring now, before the announcement of a public launch, which is the window. No public roles listed anywhere. Cold email is the only path: founders@popdex.com
Why applying the normal way doesn't work
PopDEX runs an applicant tracking system, but hiring managers still work referrals first. A cold application to PopDEX isn't dead, it's just fourth in line behind internal referrals, sourced candidates and recruiter pipelines.
Who to contact at PopDEX
What to show them
PopDEX's core product is the on-chain trading engine: the perpetual futures contracts, the margin accounting, the liquidation logic, and the value distribution mechanism. Building this securely at launch, and then passing security audits that institutional market makers will require before bringing capital to the platform, is the single most critical technical workstream. The team is in closed testing, which means the contracts exist but are being stress-tested. The engineers who harden them before public launch are the first hires. Core skills: Solidity or Rust, perpetual futures protocol design, margin and collateral accounting on-chain, liquidation mechanisms, AMM and orderbook hybrid architecture, security-aware development, familiarity with Hyperliquid, dYdX, or GMX protocol mechanics at the contract level. Proof of work: Write a technical analysis of the liquidation mechanism in one live perp DEX (Hyperliquid, GMX, or dYdX) and identify one specific attack vector or edge case in their design. Propose an architectural fix. Publish the analysis publicly. This is the level of thinking PopDEX needs from their protocol team before audit.

Mistakes that kill applications
Generic CVs stand out at a -person company — and not in a good way. Fastest path to rejection.

Applying and waiting = silence. Follow up at day five — it roughly doubles your odds of a reply.
