What Alex is looking for
Building something tangible while working with a small group of people. I want to be around people I like building something I like. In this type of environment I would be able to help while learning from others. Another aspect I would want in a role is the ability to talk to customers. I want to get into the psychology of potential users. Being able to communicate with others while building is a good split.
Why Alex is exploring
My current role is a dead end. The team is great and the company is interesting, but the role is not what I want in the long term. I want to be in a role where I can be more hands on with the technology we're using. I need to be in a role where I'm constantly learning to improve my skills whether it's soft skills or technical.
What won't fit on a resume
I built a website called Noisylabs.com to get into affiliate marketing. I would create articles revolving around outdoor speakers and include referral links in the articles. I worked on it for a couple years but didn't try to monetize until year two. What I'm most proud of is I got the monthly visitor total to 10,000 people a month. That number was also growing but I stopped working on it to learn how to do software.
