What Andrea is looking for
Head of Design at a company that already values craft. I want to lead a small team, set strategic direction, and stay close enough to the work that I’m still in Figma, reviewing implementations, and pushing PRs when needed. I lose track of time when I’m untangling messy systems - encoding 810 state-specific legal requirements into usable workflows, or mapping task management for 70 ops specialists. Not meetings about design. The actual work.
Why Andrea is exploring
I’ve built the design practice at Proof from zero to a team of three, shipped major product initiatives, and established the foundation. But the company’s mission has shifted, leadership has changed, and I’m spending more time on capacity planning than craft. I don’t want to keep convincing stakeholders that design matters - I want to work somewhere that already believes it. I’m ready for a company with stronger design culture and bigger strategic challenges where I can build a team that ships with real craft standards.
What won't fit on a resume
I built my portfolio from scratch with Claude Code and Next.js because I wanted to understand the stack I’m asking engineers to work in. I’m building Cold or Nah - a water temp tracker for Maine beaches using NOAA buoys, crowdsourced data, and a confidence scoring system. I used Claude to classify 1,000+ support chat threads to prove our problem wasn’t chat volume - it was clarity. I ship side projects that solve real problems for my community, not just portfolio demos.
