The story
What Dhruv is looking for
Building products that solve real pain points for customers while iterating with their feedback. That's the loop I genuinely enjoy being in. In my past two roles I built multiple products from the ground up (first hire at Recall.ai, grew from 10 to 1000+ customers; co-founder at Glood.ai, $1K to $25K MRR) while staying close to customers the entire time. I'm looking to own things across entire SDLC - build features, ship them, drive adoption, talk to users, improve it. Early stage, small team, fast iteration is an ideal setting for me.
Why Dhruv is exploring
Coming off a full-time parenting sabbatical, actively exploring roles now. Given the impact AI coding tools have had on developer productivity, I think there's even more opportunity for engineers to have outsized product and business impact at startups. That's super exciting to me and I want to be part of it.
What won't fit on a resume
We needed live captions at Recall.ai and nobody had done it before. Zoom encrypts caption data with AES-256-GCM on WebSocket messages, so I had to reverse engineer the key derivation scheme and binary envelope format from minified JS (found the constants around line 237,933 of their SDK). Teams required monkey-patching WebRTC data channels and writing a custom binary depacketizer to reassemble fragmented caption packets. Google Meet meant patching internal event emitter prototypes and identifying caption events by structural fingerprinting of 10-element arrays. Shipped all three in under 3 weeks. That kind of rabbit hole - where the problem is gnarly and undocumented and you just have to figure it out - is my favorite place to be.
