The story
What Emmanuel is looking for
A queue that actually means something. Real users with real problems: account issues, confusing onboarding, something broke during a live event, and I'm the person who figures it out and closes it cleanly. I lose track of time when I'm deep in a pattern: three tickets that look different on the surface but all trace back to the same root cause, and I'm the one who spotted it and fixed it upstream. The day-to-day I want is a mix of handling volume well and making the system better so tomorrow's volume is easier. I don't want a role where I just close tickets and go home.
Why Emmanuel is exploring
My last role ended in January and I've been deliberate about what I go after next. I don't want to land somewhere that treats support as a cost center. I want a company that's moving fast enough that the work I do actually changes how the product develops; where a feedback report I write gets read by someone who builds something from it. I've had that experience and I want it again.
What won't fit on a resume
I built a live portfolio from scratch to document my actual work, not a PDF, a real site with five case studies pulled from real situations at real jobs. One covers a feedback analysis I ran at Karate Combat where I identified three recurring complaint themes and turned them into a structured report; all three reached the product roadmap. Another covers a de-escalation I handled during a live fight night where I moved a public complaint to a private channel in 90 seconds before it could spread. I built it because I wanted to show the work, not just list the titles. It's at https://emmanuel-alabi.netlify.app/. I also went down a pretty deep rabbit hole into blockchain security in 2022, not because anyone asked me to, but because a project I was working with got hit by a Discord exploit and I wanted to understand exactly what happened. That led to a Google Cybersecurity certificate and a Zendesk implementation I later did more confidently because I understood the threat model underneath it.
