What Mahashwetha is looking for
A role where I stop feeling like a ticket-closer and start feeling like a builder again. I want to work on a backend that's genuinely complex — not complicated for the sake of it, but because the problem is hard. A small-to-mid team where my 12 years actually count for something: not just seniority on paper, but being the person who's seen things break at scale and knows why. I want AI to be part of my daily work, not something I do on weekends. And I'd love even a small slice of technical leadership — not managing people away from code, but being the one juniors come to when they're stuck. Paris-based, or fully remote done right. That's it.
Why Mahashwetha is exploring
I left NASDAQ after 5 years in India including 2 years remote from Paris covid time — great experience, but the role did not expand further for me and the relocation for family unification got planned the same time. I could go back to the same kind of contract work, or use the gap intentionally. I chose the second. I've spent the last several months building things I actually care about, upskilling in AI, and being honest with myself about what I want next. I'm not panic-applying. I'm looking because I'm ready — financially, mentally, technically. Paris is home now, my French is growing, and I want to put down professional roots here. The timing feels right.
What won't fit on a resume
I built an automated job search pipeline — not because someone told me to, but because I was spending 3 hours a day manually checking job boards and it was making me miserable. So I fixed it. Python, Gmail SMTP, Gemini API, Excel tracker, Windows scheduler — runs every morning at 11am, sends me a styled digest, tailors my resume per company using an LLM, tracks everything. Zero infra cost. I open-sourced it. The rabbit hole was realising I'd basically built a personal AI agent before I knew that's what it was called. The side project that got users was a Paris cherry blossom map — single HTML file, no dependencies, bilingual, animated petals, every arrondissement mapped with bloom timings and Google Maps links. I built it in a weekend because I couldn't find a good one anywhere. 50+ people found it organically. That surprised me more than anything I shipped at work. The problem nobody asked me to solve: making job searching feel less like drowning. I solved it for myself. Apparently that's equally interesting like many other things on my CV.
