Why Sarah is exploring
I do my best work when Business Systems is treated like engineering. That means protected focus time, clear scope, and a chance to really dig into the technical design. I get stuck when the role is treated more like Operations, where the expectation is to be “flowery” instead of direct. I tend to be a straight shooter, so I want to set the expectation that my communication will be clear and candid, and I’d love for that to be taken in the spirit of collaboration, rather than combativeness.
What won't fit on a resume
When our existing revenue calculation flow could not reliably compute Gift Sales, Final GMV, Cost of Gifts, Cost of Gifts Sold, and per-product revenue at the level our business needed, I did not wait for a budget we did not have. Instead of buying Revenue Cloud, I designed and built a Revenue Calculation Engine inspired by CPQ Price Rules: a lightweight, extensible rules framework that decides when it should run, then executes the full set of calculations deterministically across every product on an opportunity. The result was a more powerful, scalable RevCalc foundation that improved accuracy, reduced manual work, and gave us a clear path to evolve pricing and revenue logic as the business grows.
