The story

What Sarah is looking for

Forgetting to eat because I'm so deep in a problem I lost track of time. That's the tell. It happens when I'm in the full design process, early and messy through polished and shipped, not just handed a brief and asked to execute. I want to be in the room where the problem is still being defined, shaping what gets built and why, then staying close all the way through to the details that make it feel right. The best work happens when the people around you are genuinely driven, both by the craft and by making something that matters in the world. That's the environment I do my best work in.

Why Sarah is exploring

I've been on a people management track and I'm ready to step back off it. I'm a better designer than I am a manager, and more importantly, it's where I'm most energized. I want ownership over the work itself, not just the people doing it.

What won't fit on a resume

I built a native iOS app over the holidays with no prior Swift experience just to see if I could. Seven days, fully shipped, using Cursor and Claude as my technical guides. My next project is a foraging app because I went down a rabbit hole about wild edible plants and fungi and now I can't stop thinking about the product that I would want to use. There are more ideas in a running list I add to constantly. I'm the kind of person who sees a problem and immediately starts sketching a solution, even when nobody asked me to.
