The story

What Shreyas is looking for

i want to be the person who builds the whole thing. not just a feature, the whole product. my best work has been when someone says "here's the problem, go figure it out" and i come back with a working system. at my last two startups i was the sole engineer shipping entire platforms, enterprise drive integration with multi-tenant isolation, ai chat with context-aware memory, voice pipelines, cloud infra on scaleway, all of it. that's where i lose track of time: when i'm stitching together an architecture in my head at 2am and suddenly it's 6am and the thing works. small team, high ownership, real users. i don't want to write code someone else designed.

Why Shreyas is exploring

honesty? i've been burned twice by the same pattern. i join early, build the core product solo, ship it fast and once it's in maintenance mode, i get let go. the latest one told me "we can just use claude instead of you." that stung. but it also clarified something: i was undervaluing myself. working for €380/month building enterprise-grade systems because i was desperate for experience. i'm done optimizing for survival. i want a team that values engineers for what they architect, not just what they code and one that sees me as a long-term investment, not a disposable build phase.

What won't fit on a resume

i come from a family of pandits. we do religious ceremonies for half our city. i'm next in line to carry that forward. sounds unrelated but it taught me something most engineers don't learn: how to read a room, hold attention, and perform under pressure with zero retries. on the tech side i built fin-alpha, a full financial analysis agent with 17 tools, 4 sub-agents, and a 7-stage langgraph pipeline just because i wanted to understand how stock analysis actually works. i'm currently building spendclaw, a privacy-first upi expense tracker that accepts bank statement pdfs via whatsapp, deduplicates transactions, categorizes merchants via claude api, and delivers ai-powered habit coaching. i'm also publishing a research paper on context window decay in small language models, measuring how qwen-series models silently lose accuracy across multi-turn conversations, something no existing benchmark captures. during my last job i shipped an entire enterprise data room in 20 days while the ui kept changing under me. their commits still don't deploy without type errors. i compete on codeforces and leetcode (1578 rating, 400+ problems) not for placement prep, but because i genuinely enjoy the puzzle.
