What Umar is looking for
honestly, i want to be in an environment where the problems are actually hard. not just maintaining someone else's codebase or fixing the same category of bugs on repeat. i want to sit down in the morning and face something that genuinely requires thinking. small enough team where i can own a feature end to end, see it ship, and then watch real users interact with it. that feedback loop is what keeps me going.
Why Umar is exploring
the product i'm working on just doesn't excite me anymore. i can do the work, but i'm not thinking about it in the shower or staying late because i'm curious. i want to care about what i'm building. when the product matters, everything else, the hard problems, the long hours, the debugging at midnight, feels worth it. i'm looking for that.
What won't fit on a resume
i have a couple of side projects that actually have real users, which surprised me more than anyone. i didn't build them to put on a CV, but rather because i wanted to solve something and couldn't find a good enough tool for it. seeing strangers use something you made at 1am on a weekend is a different kind of validation. it's what made me take software seriously in the first place.
