Frequently asked questions

Do UK employers use ATS software?

Yes — most mid-size and large UK employers screen CVs through an ATS before a human reads them, and recruiters search the parsed text by keyword. If your CV parses badly, you're invisible to those searches.

How is a CV checked differently from a resume?

Conventions differ: two pages is standard for an experienced UK candidate, a personal statement at the top is expected, and personal details like date of birth or a photo — normal in some countries — are flagged for UK applications. This checker scores against CV conventions, not US resume rules.

What score should my CV get?

70+ parses cleanly with strong content. 50–70 is typical and fixable. Under 40 almost always means layout problems — tables, columns or graphics that scramble the text an ATS extracts.

Should a CV have a photo?

Not for UK, US or Irish applications — many employers discard CVs with photos to avoid discrimination-claim exposure. Photos remain conventional in parts of the EU and Asia; match the country you're applying in.

Does the checker store my CV?

No. Processed in memory, never stored.
